First to complain, first to remember

Why do people of 40 years and up complain about conditions of snowy roads when they used to walk to school in worse conditions? Why do these people complain about snowblowing when they used to SHOVEL it all?

Why do young adults complain about the time it takes for retailed food to be prepared, when they used to get home-cooked meals that took an hour to make when they were younger? Why are young adults so quick to complain about current conditions of the world, the home, the society, the morality-- yet do nothing about it (except furthur it)?

Why is it that people do not know what's good until they no longer have it? Why do people complain about going to work, while others seek work?

"Funny The Way It Is" - Dave Matthews Band

Lying in the park on a beautiful day Sunshine in the grass and the children playSirens pass and fire engine red Someone's house is burning downOn a day like this And evening comes and were hanging outOn the front step and a car goes By with the windows rolled downAnd that war song is playing Why can't we be friends?Someone is screaming and cryingIn the apartment upstairs ChorusFunny the way it isIf you think about itSomebody's going hungry And someone else is eating outFunny the way it is, not right or wrong Somebody's heart is brokenAnd it becomes your favorite song The way your mouth feelsIn a lovers kissLike a pretty bird on a breeze Or water to a fishA bomb blast brings a buildingCrashing to the floor Hear the laughterWhile the children play warChorusFunny the way it is If you think about itOne kid walks 10 miles to schoolAnother's dropping out Funny the way it is, not right or wrongOn a soldier's last breath His baby is being bornStanding on a bridgeWatch the water passing under me It must have been much harderWhen there was no bridge just water Now the world is smallCompared to how it used to be With mountains and oceans and wintersAnd rivers and starsWatch the sky A jet plane so far out of my reachIs there someone up thereLooking down on me? A boy chase a birdSo close but every timeHe never catch her But he can't stop tryingChorusFunny the way it isIf you think about it One kid walks 10 miles to schoolAnother's dropping out Funny the way it is, not right or wrongOn a soldier's last breath His baby's being bornFunny the way it isNot right or wrong Somebody's broken heartBecomes your favorite songFunny the way it is If you think about itOne kid walks 10 miles to schoolAnother's dropping out Standing on a bridgeWatch the water passing under me It must have been much harderWhen there was no bridge just water Now the world is smallCompared to how it used to be With mountains and oceans and wintersAnd rivers and stars
